In early 2005, Compare Currency was created as a result of the founders growing tired of trawling the local high street searching for the best Euro holiday money exchange rate. We wanted to provide a simple website that compared side by side the UK’s leading currency providers. It needed to be lightning fast, easy to use and totally transparent. There was a real lack of clarity surrounding exchange rates and people found it very hard to compare deals like-for-like. Our mission was born.
We regularly update our currency tables throughout the day (290,304 times actually!) to show you who is currently offering the best exchange rate deal. The difference between the best and the worst rates can be pretty astounding and to highlight the importance of shopping around. We name and shame the best and worst providers in the UK.
Compare Currency is unbiased, you will not find our highest earning provider at the top of our tables. We do earn revenue via affiliated links from some of the currency providers listed but please note we also include many excellent currency companies that do not pay us anything.
Using our comparison site is totally anonymous. We do not collect any personally identifiable data (well, unless you fill in a contact form and ask to be contacted).
This is why, throughout the site, you'll see reference to each provider's Trustpilot rating. Our belief is that Trustpilot will always do a better job of collecting consumer reviews and preventing review spam. In addition, they can do this across the internet and so we can tap into reviews that did not originate from our site. This was clearly a more powerful and transparent option than having our own review system.
